Call for Coaches: 2024/25

We are now accepting interest for NCRA Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Junior Coach positions for the 2024/25 Season! All expressions of interest MUST be sent through RAMPhttp://novacentralra.rampregistrations.com/

Please find a cheat sheet on expressing interest in a coach position in RAMP here: RAMP Cheat Sheet: Coach interest

There will be an additional submission required after registering in RAMP, which will be outlined in an auto-reply email upon completion of the RAMP portion (it may not come immediately after submitting).

NCRA will select and announce the Tier 1 Head coaches for our U14, U16 and U19 levels prior to tryouts for those divisions beginning. All other coaching decisions are intended to be announced as soon as NCRA is able in September.

Registering in RAMP and expressing interest does not guarantee selection. Staff must still be assigned to teams in RAMP by NCRA after Executive approval; staff will not be added to teams without prior approval of and by NCRA. We continue to work with RNS and our volunteers to ensure all Coaches meet the Ringette Canada/RNS/NCRA coaching certification requirements for their respective division. NCRA may set deadlines through the season to meet all certification; any volunteer is expected to be willing and able to undertake and complete any required training. Failure to meet the certification requirements can result in not being permitted to remain a coach on the team for tournaments such as Provincials.

Coaches (Head and Assistant) should be prepared to work with Junior Coaches and to mentor/collaborate with new coaches. Please refer to our Junior Coach Policy: NCRA Junior Coach Policy We welcome all of our athletes between the ages of 14 -17 (refer to policy) to come and learn with our athletes and coaches.
Assistant coaches will be assigned by the association after tryouts and balancing, head coaches will have input in these assignments. Taking care during coach assignments allows NCRA to proactively ensure that we meet certification requirements along with ensuring there is an over-18 years female on each team's coaching staff.
T1/T2 coaches involved with RNS (either in a coaching or parent role) must be willing to use rescheduling, callups and alternate coaching staff if required to ensure non RNS athletes are not impacted by RNS practices and game play. NCRA reserves the right to consider commitment, along other criteria, during staff selections; this includes requests to be on team staff for multiple NCRA and/or RNS teams.
Coaches should also be willing to attend workshops and attend any additional training required by the Association or RNS.
NCRA will continue to build on initiatives started last season to improve collaboration, mentoring and training of our coaching volunteers. Coaches at all levels should expect to take part in 'Coach Chalk Talks' and scheduled topic/guest discussions. Coaches at all levels will be expected to attend their teams dryland and/or developmental activities; whether scheduled by NCRA or by the individual team. We also expect ALL coaches to be knowledgeable of NCRA policies and guidelines; and that they are implemented and adhered to during the season.
Coaches and all team staff should also expect to support the Association's fundraising efforts (50/50) and understand that participation in Provincials (U10 and higher) is required, Children's Ringette (FUN2/FUN1, not Active Start) is expected. NCRA is also now partnering fully with Halifax Hurricanes Ringette Association in the delivery of the Gary Field Tournament. All Coaches will be expected to include attendance to this tournament in their budgets (more information to follow).

All Tier 1 Head Coach expressions of interest MUST be submitted no later than August 11th. All other coaching positions should be in by August 21st.

Coaching Questions should be sent directly to Heather Holland, ncracoachingcoordinator@gmail.com
